Dr. Linda Braddy, Dean of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Tarrant County College's South Campus, will travel to Thailand during her Spring Break to make a presentation about methods of teaching math, science and technical training at a conference for Thai educators. This is part of an international initiative that began last year when a delegation of educators from Thailand visited the South Campus to exchange ideas on education.

With gas prices approaching $4.00 per gallon, many commuters will be considering a motorcycle as an economical transportation option. Anyone wishing to apply for a Texas Motorcycle Operator’s License must complete a Motorcycle Safety Course certified by The Motorcycle Safety Foundation. This Saturday, Tarrant County College’s Northwest Campus will host the Department of Public Safety and The Motorcycle Safety Foundation as they train instructors for these courses at the campus’ newly revitalized training facility. Weather permitting, DPS Trooper Motorcycle Officers will assist with cycle training exercises on their patrol bikes.

Tarrant County College is launching an online career tool with demonstrations on its five campuses and during a high school career day. Information about the new tool, Career Coach, has been systematically released using social media and a campus-based marketing campaign.

Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) today announced that of the 105 students or faculty who returned Thursday to Tarrant County College Southeast Campus to have their tuberculosis (TB) skin tests read, six were positive. Anyone with positive readings will receive a chest X-ray on April 20 and meet with a Public Health physician to determine treatment.

Tarrant County College Southeast Campus is hosting a free “Cutting Edge Youth Summit” to educate students on how to become leaders. Mary Kitchen-Neal, CEO and president of Gray Matter Educational Consulting, is the guest speaker. Nationally-recognized spoken-word poet and author Mike Guinn will facilitate creative writing workshops and serve as the master of ceremonies.

The TCC South Campus Visions Unlimited Program Student Mentor Team, along with that campus’ Social Sciences Department, is launching a series of voter registration events. The Voter Registration Drive will kick off with the registering of South Campus President Peter Jordan, who recently relocated to Fort Worth. Visions Unlimited is a cooperative effort with Tarrant County homeless shelters that provide the homeless access to higher education.

Tarrant County College Southeast Campus’ Science and Academic Building will be recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council for its environmental features as part of the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) program with the designation of LEED Gold.

Tarrant County College today announced that of the 37 students who returned Thursday to Tarrant County College Southeast Campus to have their tuberculosis (TB) skin tests read, three were positive. Two additional students turned in positive test results from a private physician, bringing the total of positive skin test readings to 11.

Tarrant County College Fire Service Training Center (FSTC) will graduate its first class led by a female class captain when Day Class #65 graduates. Janet Onim, 38, was selected captain shortly after the class began in mid-January. Onim’s responsibilities have included supervising lieutenants who direct the engine crews, coordinating class activities with FSTC staff, and serving as the liaison between the class and course coordinators.
