Free luncheon, open to the public, to honor veterans: 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Student Center, Room 1615A
Luncheon keynote speaker will be U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Thomas R. "TC" Coon, mobilization assistant to the director of the National Security Agency and chief of the Central Security Service at Fort George G. Meade, Md. He also serves as a member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board, reporting to the Secretary of Defense.

A student-led program begins at 6:30 p.m., Memorial Courtyard
The official dedication of Phases IV and V of the Afghanistan/Iraq War Memorial, begun in fall 2004 by TCC Cornerstone Honors students to honor those who have died in service to the United States. Each of the memorial's more than 70 panels includes three columns of dog tags with name, service branch and date of death of each soldier and Marine who has died in either Afghanistan or Iraq. Phase V includes a steel cutout of a draped American flag. The memorial is a student-driven, student-designed, publicly funded project. Free and open to the public.
Keynote speaker will be TCC student and former U.S. Marine combat engineer Josh Daugherty, who served two 7-month tours in Iraq. His book, The Daily Thoughts of a Fallujah Marine, was published in October 2008. His brother, Joey, is currently serving in Iraq.

"Remember, Honor and Thank Our Military Veterans" is the Veterans Day program theme
that will begin with the prelude and Posting of the Colors followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem and the reading of a Veterans Day proclamation. The Quartet Band will present a selection of patriotic compositions. Veterans Club President Eric Braden will offer recognition of veterans. A moment of silence will be followed by a rendition of "Taps."

Observance program: 11 a.m., Main Commons Area
With 100 U.S. flags decorating the campus in honor of veterans, the Veterans Day program will open with Posting of the Colors by students from Barnett Junior High. Arlington High School students will retire the colors. All veterans enrolled at SE will be recognized and presented with a commemorative pin thanking them for their service.
Keynote speaker will be TCC student and former U.S. Army Sgt. John Johnson, a paratrooper.
