Fire Academy
Located on the Northwest Campus in Fort Worth, the Fire Academy is held at the Fire Service Training Center. The TCC Basic Fire Academy offers three daytime classes a year beginning in January, May and August for a 14-week period. Classes meet Monday through Friday - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Applicants have the option of attending the TCC Basic Fire Academy for 18 hours of college credit toward the Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Protection Technology or through the Continuing Education Fire Service Training Schedule.
Admission Requirements
Students
must:
- Apply for admission to TCC.
- Take the Reading Placement Test and the Physical Agility Test.
Contact the Fire Academy Office for information on waivers for reading placement testing for applicants who are active volunteer firefighters and/or employed by a sponsoring fire department. Applicants with an Associates or higher degree will be exempt from the reading placement test. A copy of transcript or diploma must be submitted as proof of degree in order to receive exemption.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be high school graduate or have GED.
- Hold Texas Department of Health or National Registry EMT certification.
- Hold Texas Driver License.
Required Documents
The following documents must be completed and may be delivered in person, mailed, or faxed to 817-515-7445 before candidates are allowed to schedule Physical Agility test.

- Placement Reading Test score
