Pharmacy Technician

This is a 26-week, 352-hour program whose coursework is based on competencies established by the Pharmacy Technician Coordinating Board. Upon completion of course work, students should be prepared to take the National Certification Examination.

Pharmacy technicians work with licensed pharmacists to provide medications and other health care products to patients. They usually perform routine tasks like counting tablets, labeling bottles and receive prescriptions which they must verify and fill. Extended duties also include answering phones, supply/inventory procedures, as well as operating cash drawers.

Graduates of this program must meet state guidelines to sit for the certification exam and practice in a community pharmacy.

  • This program is eligible for Financial Aid.
  • This program is offered in the spring and fall.
  • Students are required to attend an orientation session
  • Pass a 9th grade level reading and math placement test
  • Complete a drug screen and criminal background check
