Associate of Arts Degree in Teaching
TCC offers three Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degrees, which are approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board:
- Early Childhood through Grade 6, which prepares students for advanced coursework to earn a bachelor's degree in education at a four-year college or university to teach children in grades K-6.
- Grades 8-12 and Early Childhood through Grade 12 Not Special Education, which prepares students for advanced coursework to earn a bachelor's degree in education at a four-year college or university to teach the upper elementary/middle school levels.
- Grades 4-8 and Early Childhood through Grade 12 Special Education, which prepares students for advanced coursework to earn a bachelor's degree in education at a four-year college or university to teach special education students.
Areas of specialization are Generalist, Bilingual, English as a Second Language (ESL), Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Special Education, Music, Physical Education, and Art.
The Associate of Arts in Teaching Degree is offered on Northeast and South Campuses
A grade of C or better is required for all Education, Speech, and English courses. A grade point average of 2.75 is required for graduation.
