Reading Developmental Studies

Career Coach buttonReading Developmental Studies courses are designed for students who

  • Need additional preparation to be successful in ENGL 2322, ENGL 2323, ENGL 2327, ENGL 2328, ENGL 2332, ENGL 2333, GOVT 2305, GOVT 2306, HIST 1301, HIST 1302, PHIL 1301, PSYC 2301, SOCI 1301
  • Did not pass reading portion of ACCUPLACER, THEA or state-approved assessment test

Emphasis is placed on

  • Developing and improving comprehension and vocabulary
  • Building effective study skills
  • Using critical reasoning
  • Identifying relationships among ideas
  • Preparing for tests

Exiting Developmental Reading:

  • Pass the reading portion of ACCUPLACER, THEA, or Compass
  • Complete RDNG 0361 with a C or higher and achieve the 11.1 grade level on the Nelson-Denny post-test or complete RDNG 0363 with a C or higher (changed wording for clarification)
