The Mayor Elzie D. Odom/Spring Creek Restaurants Scholarship
Established by Chris and Becky Carroll, owners of Spring Creek Restaurants, in honor of the Hon. Elzie D. Odom. Elected as an Arlington city council member in 1990, Odom continued his civic leadership as mayor from 1997-2003, the city's first black mayor.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled at or entering Tarrant County College with the intent to pursue an associate degree or a certificate of completion.
- Students who meet federal guidelines for financial need are encouraged to apply.
- Must enroll in a minimum of 9 semester hours (8 if in nursing program) for period of award.
- Must have a minimum TCC GPA of 2.5 or high school equivalent if a first-time TCC student or minimum total standard GED score of 2750.
- During the course of the semester, the student must volunteer at least eight hours with a Tarrant County nonprofit organization.
- Recipient will receive a spring scholarship if a minimum semester GPA of 2.75 is achieved in the fall, a minimum of 9 credit hours (8 if in nursing program) are completed, and signed verification of volunteer service is provided to the Foundation office.
Application Process
- Complete the TCC Foundation scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Complete the current FAFSA for determination of financial need. The financial aid process must be completed by the scholarship deadline.
- First-time TCC students: an academic transcript or GED scores, if applicable. Submit to the Foundation office.

$500 per semester
