The Mabel Matthews Memorial Scholarship

Mabel Matthews was a living example of what can be accomplished with hard work, determination and fortitude. Because of her own experience of putting herself through school while raising a family, Mrs. Matthews wanted to help other women achieve their dreams.

Eligibility Criteria 

• Must be currently enrolled at or entering Tarrant County College with the intent to pursue an associate degree or certificate of completion in accounting, business, marketing, real estate or related course of study.
• Preference is given to applicants who are single head of household.
• Must enroll in a minimum of 9 semester hours for period of award.
• Must have a minimum TCC GPA of 2.5 or high school equivalent if a first-time TCC student or minimum total standard GED score of 2850.
• Students who meet federal guidelines for financial need are encouraged to apply.
• Recipient will receive a spring scholarship if a minimum semester GPA of 2.75 is achieved in the fall and a minimum of 9 credit hours are completed.
• Additional emergency assistance may be available under this scholarship.

Application Process

• Complete the TCC Foundation scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
• Complete the current FAFSA for determination of financial need. The financial aid process must be completed by the scholarship deadline.
• First-time TCC students: an academic transcript or GED scores, if applicable. Submit to the Foundation office.

$750 per semester
