The John D. "Mac" McNeill Aviation Scholarship

An endowed scholarship created in loving memory by his wife, Mrs. Verna McNeill, to assist TCC students pursuing aviation and avionic careers. Mr. McNeill was a pilot for American Airlines from 1938 to 1961. He and Verna Mae opened Saginaw Airport and ran a charter, rental and aircraft maintenance business for 37 years. Mr. McNeill also served as a member of the College's aviation advisory committee.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Must be currently enrolled at or entering Tarrant County College with the intent to pursue an Associate of Applied Science Degree or a Certificate of Completion in Aviation Maintenance Technology.
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 9 semester hours for period of award.
  • Must have a minimum TCC GPA of 2.75, 3.0 desirable, or high school equivalent if a first-time TCC student or minimum total standard GED score of 2750.
  • This is a merit-based scholarship; although determination of financial aid is not required, students are encouraged to file a FAFSA application for other forms of available aid.
  • Recipient will receive a spring scholarship  if a minimum semester GPA of 3.0 is achieved in the Aviation Maintenance Technology curriculum in the fall and a minimum of 9 credit hours are completed.

Application Process

  • Complete the TCC Foundation scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • First-time TCC students: an academic transcript or GED scores, if applicable. Submit to the Foundation office. 

Scholarship Amount

$500 per semester

The priority deadline is May 6, 2011 at 11:59 p.m.
