The Dwain H. Hughes Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Students
A scholarship established in memory of Dwain H. Hughes to assist TCC students pursuing careers in nursing. Mr. Hughes was vice president and CFO of RadioShack Corporation and served as a lieutenant colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserves, where he personally witnessed the heroic efforts of nurses on the front line.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have been admitted into the Associate of Applied Science Program in Nursing at Tarrant County College.
- Must meet federal guidelines for financial need.
- Must enroll in a minimum of 8 semester hours in the nursing program for period of award.
- Must have a minimum TCC GPA of 3.0, 3.25 desirable, in courses applied toward the A.A.S. degree in Nursing.
- Recipient will continue to receive the scholarship, for up to four semesters, as long as a minimum GPA of 3.0 is maintained in the nursing curriculum and a minimum of 8 credit hours are completed each semester.
Application Process
- Complete the TCC Foundation scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Complete the current FAFSA for determination of financial need. The financial aid process must be completed by the scholarship deadline.
Scholarship Amount
$500 per semester
Up to five scholarships annually

The priority deadline is May 4, 2012 at 11:59 p.m.
