The Mario Hernandez Scholarship
A scholarship created by friends, TCC colleagues and professional associates of Mario Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez was a cheerful and helpful individual who served TCC for many years providing support, direction, guidance and encouragement to students.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled at Tarrant County College pursuing an Associate of Arts Degree in Teaching.
- Must be of the first generation in family to attend college.
- Must meet federal guidelines for financial need.
- Must enroll in a minimum of 9 semester hours for period of award.
- Must have a minimum TCC GPA of 2.75 or high school equivalent if a first-time TCC student or minimum total standard GED score of 3000.
- Favorable consideration will be given to applicants possessing Hispanic heritage.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are single head of household and are trying to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
- Recipient will receive a spring scholarship if a minimum semester GPA of 2.75 is achieved in the fall and a minimum of 9 credit hours are completed.
Application Process
- Complete the TCC Foundation scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Complete the current FAFSA for determination of financial need. The financial aid process must be completed by the scholarship deadline.
- First-time TCC students: an academic transcript or GED scores, if applicable. Submit to the Foundation office.
Scholarship Amount
$500 per semester
