The Bates Container/Hardy Sanders Family Scholarship

Established in loving memory of Mr. Hardy Sanders, co-founder of Bates Container Ltd., which started in 1963. Conceived with the notion that there was a market for innovation, quality, and the very best service along with an unwavering high level of integrity, today Bates is among the larger independent converters of corrugated packaging in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria 

• Must be currently enrolled at or entering Tarrant County College with the intent to pursue an associate degree or a certificate of completion with coursework in accounting, business, CAD, computer hardware technology, electronics and telecommunications technology, engineering technology, management, and/or sales.
• Must meet federal guidelines for financial need.
• Must enroll in a minimum of 9 semester hours for period of award. 
• Must have a minimum TCC GPA of 2.5 or high school equivalent if a first-time TCC student or minimum total standard GED score of 2850.
• The donors favor volunteerism, and other qualifications being equal, candidates with a history of volunteer activity will be preferred.
• Recipient will receive a spring scholarship  if a minimum semester GPA of 2.75 is achieved in the fall and a minimum of 9 credit hours are completed.
• The company may offer a paid internship to the student.

Application Process

• Complete the TCC Foundation scholarship application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
• Complete the current FAFSA for determination of financial need. The financial aid process must be completed by the scholarship deadline.
• First-time TCC students: an academic transcript or GED scores, if applicable. Submit to the Foundation office.

Scholarship Amount

$750 per semester
