2012-2013 Birdville Independent School District Scholarship Criteria

A scholarship partnership that coordinates BISD endowed scholarship funding and TCCD's financial assistance programs. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating senior and have attended BISD schools for both junior and senior years. Students graduating early must have earned their credits for their junior and senior year at a BISD school.
  • Must complete the admissions process for TCC, which includes:
    • Submitting an admissions application
    • Submitting official high school transcript(s)
    • Completing testing requirements
    • Attending New Student Group Advisement
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application and list TCC as one of the institutions to which enrollment is sought by the semester deadline.
    • Fall Semester - August 1
    • Spring Semester - January 15
  • Must enroll at TCC for a minimum of 6 semester hours per semester.
  • Must enroll at TCC during the first fall or spring semester immediately following graduation (except in cases of deferment due to active U.S. military service).
  • Students must enroll in STSC 0111 (Transition to College Success) their first semester at TCC.
  • Student will be required to meet with their academic advisor before dropping any course(s).
  • Student will be required to meet with their academic advisor a minimum of three times during the course of each semester.
  • Students who receive others forms of financial assistance provided through TCCD for less than $750 per semester will surrender these funds and receive the BISD scholarship..
  • Students may not receive the BISD scholarship if they receive at least $750 per semester from other TCCD financial assistance programs or federal/state funding.
  • Recipients will receive a second semester scholarship if a minimum GPA of 2.5 is achieved in the first semester and a minimum of 6 semester hours are completed.

Application Process

  • Complete the TCC Admissions Process for TCC.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.
    • Submit an admissions application
    • Submit an official high school transcript(s)
    • Complete testing requirements
    • Attend New Student Group Advisement
  • Complete the entire FAFSA process.
    • Complete the FAFSA application and list TCC as one of the institutions to which enrollment is sought.
    • Submit any additional paperwork, if requested by the Financial Aid Office
    • Receive an award letter from TCC.  You may check the status of your application at anytime through aid status and notices.

Scholarship Amount

Up to 15 hours of tuition per semester, maximum award per semester of $750

This program is available for two consecutive semesters per student and is only available for the fall and spring semesters.

Deadline

Fall 2012: August 1, 2012.
Spring 2013: January 15, 2013.
